OCD Awareness Week is Coming Up: October 8–14th, 2012

There are so many ways to get involved in OCD Awareness Week this year, from attending a film screening, joining in a Twitter chat, going to a local reception or talk, or simply by helping to spread the word about OCD — both by helping people to understand there is hope for those with OCD and helping to end stigma of mental illness.

In Boston, we are excited to be co-hosting a very cool art event called Paint4Peace™, on October 8th at the Franklin Park Zoo. The program will be run by the talented Jeffrey Sparr and the team at PeaceLove Studios. Jeff started painting as an adult, as a way to cope with his OCD. Through his art, Jeff finds a release from the mental strain of his disease. He founded PeaceLove Studios with the hope that he could help others to find this same peace. On October 8th, Jeff will be helping us to kick off OCD Awareness Week by running a free art class for kids and teens in the Boston area. Paint4Peace teaches painting as a way to inspire, motivate, build self-confidence and deliver a message of hope, through creativity and artistic expression. Learn more...

We will also cap off the week with the 2nd Annual "A Night to Believe" Celebration and Silent Auction, where we will be honoring this year's Dare to Believe Creative contest winners. We are excited to have winners joining us from as far away as New Zealand and England! We will also honor the winner of the inaugural IOCDF Hero Award. Everyone in the New England area is invited to join us for this inspiring celebration on October 13th, which will be held in the Back Bay Ballroom at the Sheraton Boston. Learn more...

There are many other events across the country and around the globe planned for the week, and we hope you join us. Find an event in your area, or other ideas how you can get involved here. Or join us on Twitter at #OCDweek and #OCDchat.
